Spirit of Mojo

Conduct

Good conduct in the game of Field Mojo, and really for any recreational sport, can be divided into two categories. The first category is putting out a positive and fun attitude. The second is good sportsmanship, which we will call The Spirit of Mojo.

Bring the Fun!

Fun and socializing is a big part of playing sports – it’s why most of us are here. Here are some dos and don’ts for creating an enjoyable experience for your teammates:

Spirit of the Game

The Spirit Of The Game is a concept taken from the sport Ultimate Frisbee. The Official Rules Of Ultimate describe it as the following: Ultimate relies upon a spirit of sportsmanship that places the responsibility for fair play on the player. Highly competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of mutual respect among competitors, adherence to the agreed upon rules, or the basic joy of play. Protection of these vital elements serves to eliminate unsportsmanlike conduct from the Ultimate field.

Field Mojo is a sport with few breaks in play, and is difficult to officiate, so players are expected to call thier own plays in an honest manner. Examples of honest play:

If you are a runner and a ball grazes you, yet no one saw it, admit the ball hit you and go to the outbox.
When the ball becomes dead, the defense is expected to gently roll the ball to the side of the field so everyone knows it is dead.
